someday I'll be remembered for my sense of adventure.

when the word ‘autism’ is so nebulous that you don’t know what to tell disability services at your university, because you’re literally only dealing with problems as they come up, because you’re thankfully used to really flexible people, and already take classes online, so no need for classroom accommodations… and having your ‘accommodation’ be ‘everything’ is probably not an option.

why

it’s almost as if I should give a cute lil ‘welcome to autism’ pamphlet to anybody I meet y’know??? I can’t keep explaining to people who say shit like “but why not just _____”, it’s a giant waste of my time and I’d prefer to not.

  • Them: This isn't a choice that [Other Person] can do or not do, this is literally a medical condition, so you have to put up with it.
  • Me: Okay, well, just so you guys know, I hate telling people, but I'm autistic, so there will be weird things that I do and things I don't like that seemingly make no sense. I have a medical diagnosis just like [Other Person], and I'd appreciate if you could put up with these things when they don't affect you.
  • Them: Okay, fine.
  • [Later]
  • Them: Why can't you just not _____? It doesn't make any sense to _____!

Hey, I have an odd request.

My brother is autistic and loveees this specific penguin. Unfortunately we lost him whilst on vacation a few months ago. The hotel said he was probably taken away by the people who wash the bed sheets.

I would like to find an exact replica of this penguin for my brother. We bought him at the Hogle Zoo in Utah many years ago and they no longer are selling this item.

Please share, search thift stores, anything will help!!

  • “She really likes–oh my god I mean he, I’m so sorry, I just don’t have it down yet, you need to give me time, I mean, I’m getting it, I promise, it’s just so hard sometimes, and I don’t even know where that came from, and I’m so sorry, I really didn’t mean to, you just have to go easy on me, I’ve never done this before, it’s just, I’m getting it, it won’t happen again, it’s just hard, you get it, right?”
